New Stuff Hey all, It has been a long while since I've posted anything. I've been doing a lot of retro glam and fashion shoots for clothing companies. I'm hoping to get a little edgier and crazier this summer with some outlandish themes and such. Sadly, I also had to go brunette for work purposes so this is pretty much the last of the red. Information hunt... Ok. I am hunting information about sound equipment. I know I will need lights and large speakers and some sort of mixer, for both lights and sound. I have a laptop that I plan on using for the main unit of the setup. This information I am hunting so I can setup a rave. Where would be suggested I look for 15 inch speakers and woofers? Need some help picking a movie for a live show at DragonCon Hey all, Im going to throw a poll in here to see what you (the Dragoncon going public)would like to see being live riffed during my Cult of UHF late night mass panel on the podcasting track. I do a video podcast called Cult of UHF where I show full length B-movies and this year Derek the director of the Podcasting track has given me a spot on Sat night to do a live show. I love all the movies I have shown and am having a hard time picking one that I think maybe the masses who don't watch a lot of B-movies might go for. (dont have a plus account so I'll have to ghetto poll) 1. Destroy all Monsters (a Gamera/Tokyo monster film) 2. Attack from Space (typical cheesy space sci-fi) 3. The Satanic Rites of Dracula (bad Hammer film about...well Dracula) 4. Zontar the thing from Venus (another alien sci-fi) 5. A very well known one like Plan 9 from outer space or Night of the Living Dead I would appreciate any input and if you want to preview or watch any of those to see examples you can head over to my archive site at http://cultofuhf.wordpress.com/ Feel free to suggest any from my archives for the live show. Is the Indiana Jones Parade group organized ahead of time? or is it just a bunch of friends who get together and show up? I'm thinking of doing a costume from the new movie and I would love to join in if anyone is putting this together!

"A few things from my desk..." I'm currently working on two different projects. "Haylie," is probably one of my favorite fine-art models. I shot her a few weeks ago and am trying to get through the set as quickly as possible. Paid work is always first and for once...I'm busy. I'm having to outsource the initial edit to a friend in order to keep up with some of the other stuff. The other project on my desk is "Lady Violet Arcane." She's a dominatrix that recently moved to Atlanta looking to set up a dungeon here. I shot her in studio last week and will finish up the set more than likely this evening. I can't post too many of her as the pic's are for her subscription based site. Still, gotta have a teaser...right! Current Mood:  creativeCurrent Music: none...."Lilo&Stitch" |

They like me! They really like me! I finally got the news that I'm coming back as a guest this year. I've been cloistered in my studio, wearing a hair shirt and beating myself with a cat o' nine til I got the wise notion to pop off a note to the D*C Overlords. Apparently, their email got eaten by my spam filter back in January. I'm a fine artist, a former comic book inker, a face & body painter (come see me in the Art Room!), and lately, I've been doing a LOT of storyboarding. Just finished boarding a TNT movie: The Librarian 3: Curse of the Judas Chalice, with Jonathan Frakes directing. How often can you say you've been on an Away Team to a haunted Louisiana plantation with Number One?? Now, I'm creating art for a film based on Peter Beagle's Unicorn Sonata. And I really should get off LJ and get my butt back into my studio. If you're inspired, you can see my work here. Greetings from Canadia! I'm taking a day off and visiting gfish for the weekend , 'cause Sunday is our wedding anniversary. Happy anniversary, love! What's the gift for five years, anyway? (That's five years of marriage, but 11 1/2 years of overall togetherness. We celebrate both. English really needs a better term than "dating anniversary.") I drove up last night, so incredibly zippy fast that I got here like an hour before either of us expected it. No traffic and Nexus pass, ftw! Anyway, he had to be on campus at 10, but I am ON VACATION, so I slept in and am lounging about eating Canadian raisin bran (it has deux pelletées of raisins, which translate.ru reads as "two shovelfuls", and is high in fib re.) Soon I'll go out and enjoy this lovely day borrowed from summer. Fishy asked solicitously if I wouldn't rather hang out in the private comfort of his apartment, rather than in public in a Starbucks or something, but there's just not enough daylight in here. Vixies are solar-powered. I've been woefully neglecting livejournal lately. I'll probably use some free time this weekend to catch up a little, but I don't have hopes of catching up on everything. Life's just been like that lately. Sometimes it's not even that I am literally too busy, it's just that I haven't got the bandwidth. The spoons. Y'know what I mean. Anyway, this weekend is my little vacation from life. Next week is my BIG vacation from life, as I'm heading down to the bay area a few days before Baycon to visit with some of my favorite people. And to be stuck in a box and forced to sing. Life's rough, isn't it? ;) Current Mood:  relaxed |

Thoughts on watching NKOTB on the Today Show Understand, I was a huge NKOTB fan back in the day. HUGE! I had posters and t-shirts and pins and a sleeping bag and all that stuff. So here are my thoughts, stream of conscious style, since seeing them for the first time in 15 years: OMG...they got old. Now I feel old. Yeah, you aren't pre-pubescent teenagers anymore...you can't hit that not without getting racked. I still love the dance to "The Right Stuff." I should have kept my NKOTB sleeping bag...who knew? Joey is still the cutest. Danny looks less like a gorilla and more like David Schwimmer. Or maybe like a gorilla mated with David Schwimmer. Weird. Too much neon in the audience. Friends don't let friends wear neon. Thank you for not using backup dancers young enough to be your daughters. Jordan must have sacrificed his testicles to the devil to be able to still hit that note. Yeah, I'm singing along. What's it to you? Audience FULL of soccer moms!! Despite the pouring rain, they gave a really good performance...gotta respect that. Current Mood:  giggly |

Dealer room in year 2000 This is a very specific question, and I don't expect anyone to have the answer, but... Way back in 2000 I attended my first DragonCon, and I stumbled across a treasure in the dealer room. If I remember right, the seller mainly stocked books, but my treasure was a piece of art (I can only assume it was the original art, because I doubt prints have ever been made from this) from the cover of one of my favorite books: The Best of Cordwainer Smith. I was a poor college student at the time, and I don't remember the exact price tag, but it was ridiculously out of my budget. Cordwainer Smith is a reletivly obscure artist, so just seeing this was amazing, and it has haunted me ever since. Does anyone know who might have been selling it or what may have become of it?  |

Dark Tower costumes?
Hey -- throwing this out here to find out if anyone else would be interested in doing Dark Tower costumes.
Some of my friends are putting together a general Stephen King group, but so far I'm the only DT person -- I'm planning on a Jake Chambers outfit -- and I'd really like to see anyone else from either ka-tet, or the books in general! I know there's got to be plenty of people out there who have read the series, so help me out, if it do ya.
Obviously, I'd love to see the rest of Jake's ka-tet, especially Roland (I think I saw one a couple years ago...), but it would be pretty awesome to see Cuthbert, Alain, etc, and any other characters you'd like to portray. (Several people should get together and do Blaine; it'd be epic.)
I don't know about doing anything for the parade -- I've never done it before, and I'm not sure how I'd cope with that -- but if anyone's interested in general, drop a comment and we'll have us a palaver. |

Another n00b Question I know that there have been millions of these "I'm new" Posts, but I do have a specific Question. I tend to plan things very far in Advance, so I have my Hotel room (in an overflow hotel, but whatever) but I am curious to know when Track Information typically becomes available. I'm especially intersted in the Whedontrack (because Joss is God), but I'd like to see what else is out there. Also, I've never been to a con with authors, and while I've been told that they do not typically charge for Autographs, what do they Sign? I'm willing to, but I would rather not have to carry a library in my backpack, ya know what I mean? Thanks in advance for the Info, and I can't wait to see y'all in August! Squee! Rides to Dragoncon
We are offering rides from Austin to Atlanta (probably via Dallas). Please let us know if you'd like to join us. Details below:
We are going to rent a large van and trailer for the drive to Dragoncon this year. There should lots of room for costumes in the trailer. We expect to leave Austin on Thursday morning and depart Atlanta Monday morning. We can pick people up in anywhere between Austin and Dallas. The cost will be $150 roundtrip (possibly less depending on gas prices). Let me know if you're interested.
